Help and advice

Several factors need to be considered before deciding whether or not to change an existing bath. The long term needs of the bather/s must be considered, especially if their ability is likely to change. The needs of other household members should also be considered. For example, bathlifts can be quite heavy and difficult to lift out of a bath. Will other family members be happy bathing with it, or will they be able to remove it? In some cases a level access shower may be a better option. Click this link to read further considerations on buying a bath.

We strongly recommend that you seek professional advice before making long term decisions about changing your bath or installing a shower. Informed advice is available from community occupational therapists (OT's) who are often based in the Social Services department of your local council.
