AKW Luda Electric Care Shower
The Luda is an IP45 rated water proof shower unit which allows for worry free showering even if water splashes onto the unit & carries a comprehensive BEAB Care approval. The shape of the shower is tapered at the base to give more space in the enclosure for a seated user. You can choose a AKW Luda Twist with a lever at the base of the riser rail to twist the shower head angle (AKW Luda Twist available from April 2011) A non return valve means that no retainer is required giving the carer full use of the extra long shower hose. A height adjustable shower head, soap dish & shelf allow the height to be easily adjusted for seated or standing users. A 1 metre long riser rail which doubles as a grab rail accommodates users of all heights whether standing or seated. The riser rail is in fact our fluted grab rail; so you do not need to clutter your shower with additional grab rails as the riser rail discreetly provides the extra support. The flow rate has three variable settings (high / med / low) to save water. The Luda has a height adjustable soap dish & a shelf & a hook for shower gel or face cloth, to keep showering products accessible without creating tripping hazards. The Luda has audio beeps & LED illumination to let the user know when the power is on or off & when temperature & water flow settings are changed The Luda has received RNIB accreditation & has tactile buttons with plus & minus symbols for easy use.

Consider if this shower will be used by more than one household member and their ability to see and operate the controls independently. The position and height of the shower unit can also affect this.
If you are planning to install one of these units as an overbath shower it is worth considering whether this is the best option in the longer term. It may be that an alternative type of shower or bath is required which may also make it easier for a carer. One of the benefits of fitting an overbath shower is that it can be fitted in a short period and can usually be used in combination with different types of bathing equipment and does not involve a lot of structural changes to a property.
