This section includes a range of ramped access shower trays and cubicles which facilitate easier access for mobile shower chairs. Some suppliers also have ramp access kits to fit on their range of stepped trays.
This section includes ramped access corner shower cubicles which may be front or side opening.
Generally these type of shower trays are easier to fit than level access shower trays which means they can be easily installed in alternative spaces within the home.
If a mobile chair is going to be used, check that there is enough space around the shower to allow sufficient space to approach in the chair and that the ramp is not too steep. If a person is using a self-propelled shower chair they will require good upper limb strength to propel themselves up the ramp. Consider if self propelling is likely to be a long term solution, if not you may wish to consider an alternative showering or bathing solution.
When considering bathing equipment an individual assessment with an occupational therapist may be appropriate, your safety in your bathroom is very important. There may be individual factors which determine which bathing equipment best suits your needs, the information on this site is not a substitute for individual assessment.
Once you have determined the essential shower features required you will probably need advice from a builder or a specialist from a supplier to determine the feasibility for your bathroom.
