Showering

Image of Showering

Showering may be chosen because of personal preference or because getting in and out of a standard type of bath has become too difficult or hazardous. It provides easier access and can be used in combination with a wide range of showering equipment.

This section includes a range of shower trays and cubicles, a range of types of showering equipment and rails that may be used in a shower.

Help and advice

If help is needed for bathing, showering may offer the possibility of washing independently once again or on a more regular basis. It can also reduce the input carers need to provide or reduce the amount of bending required over a standard bath.

Increasingly many of the specialist baths have integral shower units. Click here for information on baths with door entry.

When considering these changes an individual assessment with an occupational therapist may be appropriate, your safety in your bathroom is very important. There may be individual factors which determine which bathing or showering equipment best suits your needs, the information on this site is not a substitute for individual assessment.
