DLF's description
Side rails which clamp to the square, tubular frame of metal beds. Rails can be dropped down when a spring knob at either end is pulled out. Supplied in pairs and available in three lengths.

Manufacturer's description
A sturdy rectangular tube frame, height adjustable bed. The legs are secured by a bolt & wingnut, with a welded non-sag mesh base. The head & footboard's are made from fire retardent wood and the frame is plastic coated mild carbon steel. The ASM Copeland bed can be supplied with 4 braked castors, 4 height adjustable legs or a combination of 2 of each.
A free standing lifting pole (shown) can be supplied as an optional extra.
Help and advice
It is essential that bed rails are suitable for the people who are using them and compatible with the particular beds being used. Bed rails should never be used to restrain a person.
If the user is likely to attempt to climb over the rails and fall from an even greater height, it may be worth considering placing a mattress directly onto the floor. Caring for someone at floor level can be problematic, but in certain cases it provides a safer and more dignified solution.
Side rails can pose a risk of serious injury, for example if part of the body gets trapped between them. Thus it is essential that care is taken when selecting, positioning and adjusting the rails and also when choosing or changing the type of mattress to be used in a bed with rails so as not to put the user at risk.
