Electric page turners

Image of Electric page turners

Electric page turners may be useful if you are unable to turn the pages of a book, magazine or newspaper.

They are powered, fully automated devices which hold a book and turn the pages when switches are activated. Some models can be used with a range of switches including pressure activated, sound activated, suck or blow operation.

Help and advice

If you cannot manage reading with equipment such as magnifiers and page turners, an alternative is to listen to audio books or newspapers. These are available in various formats such as MP3, CD and cassette. Many audio books can also be played on DAISY players, designed to help make audio books accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision.

Your local library may loan 'talking books', or there are free postal services available such as Calibre Audio Library. You could also subscribe to National Talking Newspapers and Magazines to obtain audio newspapers and magazines.
