This section lists audible and/or visual alarms which can assist bladder control education and regulation and provide an alert that enuresis (bed wetting) has occurred.
Some sensors may be attached to clothing, others are pads which are placed underneath the bed sheet. They can reduce the need for carers to make physical checks, reducing disturbance and promoting privacy.
For more information read our advice on Managing Incontinence issues.
We recommend a user with continence problems seeks help from a continence advisor as to how this can be managed or prevented. Occasional accidents may be unavoidable, so, if the mattress is likely to be damaged if it gets wet, adequate waterproofing should be provided. Alternatively, you may like to consider a waterproof mattress.
If you know a child who is experiencing bedwetting or other forms of incontinence, you may wish to read our advice on children's incontinence and bedwetting, which includes links to relevant external organisations.
