Listed in this section is equipment for people who have difficulty moving or turning in bed.
Much of this equipment is designed to be used independently, however many items can be used with assistance from a carer.
It is important to move or turn regularly in bed, both for comfort and to prevent pressure sores from forming.
Some people may find that the use of slippery nightwear or bedding such as satin pyjamas or sheets, combined with pulling on strategically placed grab handles, may help them turn over or be assisted to turn over more easily.
If you are unable to get from lying down to sitting up without being lifted by someone you should request an assessment by an occupational therapist as you and the person helping you may be at risk of injury.
