Standard transfer boards

Image of Standard transfer boards

Listed here are standard transfer boards. They have a smooth surface, and are tapered at either end to assist sideways transfers.

To use: first place the board into position between two equal height seats, then carefully transfer yourself onto the board and slide across to the new seating area.

Help and advice

Curved transfer boards can be useful when transferring onto chairs with fixed armrests, as they make it possible to transfer around them.

When using a transfer board, it is important to ensure that the two ends are secure.

Although it is important to have a level surface on which to transfer, some people can find it easier to transfer onto a slightly lower surface.
