Outdoor play equipment

Outdoor play equipment

This section includes swings, slides, roundabouts and modular playground equipment for outdoor play areas. It also includes listings of companies who offer a play design service for individual needs.

Many playgrounds and parks are well designed to stimulate and encourage child development - the equipment in this section has particular features which makes it suitable for use by physically disabled or partially sighted children.

Help and advice

There are many factors worth considering in relation to outdoor play equipment:

  • Is the equipment and access suitable for wheelchairs and buggies?

  • Are there handrails where needed?

  • Do seats and swings have back supports?

  • Are steps wide and deep enough?

  • Do areas provide a variety of play activities on different height levels?

  • Is the area suitable for both children with disabilities and children without disabilities?
