Prone standing frames provide support for your child's upper body in a forward leaning position with their legs resting against a padded board (often kept apart by a wedge or pommel).1-3
The angle of most of these boards can be adjusted - some provide a wide range of angles from upright to nearly horizontal, whereas some are more limited in the range of tilt available. This means that as the abilities of your child increase, the board can steadily be moved to a more vertical position and slowly they can take more weight through their legs.1-6
Prone standers provide a functional position for play and for use of your child's arms and hands and so most frames include an activity tray at arm level. Read about the activities your child could try their standing frame.1, 3 & 6-7

There are many considerations to bear in mind when choosing a standing frame and so they should only be used under the guidance of your child's physiotherapist who can advice on the most appropriate standing frame and on the best positions to use. They can also provide training on their correct use as well as reassessment as your child grows and/or their needs change.2 & 8
