Help and advice

Handwriting is a complex activity, the selection of writing equipment may require individual assessment of your needs and abilities. The ideal pen grip for one person may not suit another. For example, individuals with larger hands often prefer pens with larger grips.3 There may be other factors that require consideration before alternative writing equipment is considered including:1,2

  • the position of your chair relative to your desk
  • the height of your desk
  • your hand and arm position
  • your pen grip
