Better Living Centre

Offers a range of assisted living equipment for older people, disabled people and carers. It features a demonstration home with a wide range of equipment and telecare in a real life setting. Independent information and advice is available from their Trusted Assessors and Occupational Therapists. No appointment necessary. Open Monday-Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. Centre houses the Community Equipment & Wheelchair service, Gadgets team and part of the Safe & Sound scheme from Solihull Community Housing.

Bristol Home Independence Centre

Displays bathing equipment, shower units, a raised-level kitchen, a range of stairlifts and a fully working through-floor lift. On display is an adapted living room, bedroom, riser recliner chairs and adjustable beds to view and try. The centre also has a selection of assistive technology products for visitors to test, and offers free Occupational Therapy advice and assessments.

Centre And Help For The Advice For The Disabled

The centre has a display of products for easier living including specilised equipment for vision and hearing. A children's assessment room is available and small aids suitable for children. Disabled Living Foundation

DLF is a national charity that provides advice, information and training on independent living to support older and disabled people, their carers and the professionals who work with them. It maintains the UK's only comprehensive database of daily living equipment, DLF Data, which is available on subscription and is used by DLF's national Helpline to respond to over 25,000 enquiries a year. DLF's advice and information is also available free for public use via two online services - 'Living made easy' (www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk), an impartial advice website on daily living equipment and AskSARA (asksara.dlf.org.uk), an online tool that guides users to relevant advice and items of equipment that can help them based on their answers to questions.

Driving and Mobility Centre - West of England

Accredited Mobility Centre providing Mobility Services, i.e Manual and Powered Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter and Rollator assessments for older people who have mobility problems and for disabled people. There is the opportunity to try out equipment with fully trained and experienced Occupational Therapists who can provide advice on choosing equipment. Driving assessments carried out with Driving Advisors and Occupational Therapists to ensure safe driving and also provide advice about adaptations and funding. Guideposts Trust Independent Living Centre

Independent Living Centre which provides information on products and organistions to assist people with disabilities and older people to increase and maintain their independence. This is a free service available to any adult residing in Oxfordshire. They have access to equipment for viewing and demonstration to enable moving around in the house or outside, reaching things, preparing or eating food, getting in or out of bed, using the bathroom, going up and down stairs or steps. An Information Line is available on 01235 524857 (Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm) which provides information such as where to hire a wheelchair, where to find accessible holiday accommodation, how to find a local or national support group for a particular illness. A Resource Handbook is also available on their website. The Centre is open 5 days a week for general viewing. An appointment is necessary to ensure that the equipment required is available. An Occupational Therapist (OT) is available by appointment on a Monday or Tuesday.

People Matter IW has developed an Independent Living Centre at Downside Community and Learning Centre in Newport. The Independent Living Centre offers a free and impartial service to Island residents who are looking for equipment and advice to enhance their independence. People who require support are assessed to see which aids and adaptations might meet their needs. They are able to try out a range of different equipment to help them to decide what is best for them. The centre has areas set up as the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom to enable people to try out aids and adaptations in a more realistic setting. The aim of the service is to enable people to try before they buy.

Independent Living Partnership Ltd (ILP) is committed to improving the lives of people by helping them to help themselves.
