Bowls & plates with high sides

Image of Bowls & plates with high sides

The plates and bowls listed here are designed to provide a 'wall' against which food can be pushed to manoeuvre it onto the spoon or fork. They allow you to have greater control when using one hand, thus reducing the risk of spilling of food over the edge of the plate.1

If eating with one hand, it is often a good idea to use a slip-resistant material underneath the plate or bowl to ensure it does not move while you are trying to load food onto a spoon or fork. You may also wish to consider using combination cutlery to further assist with one-handed eating.2

A plateguard could also assist with one-handed eating.2
