Help and advice

Many food items are available in a range of packaging, some of which you may find easier to open than others. For example, bread from a bakery will probably be put in a paper bag which can be easier to manage than opening the seals used for most packaged bread.1

If possible, use smaller size cartons or packets as these will be lighter in weight. Alternatively pour the contents into two or more containers as this will split up the weight. You could use storage jars with non standard features.2 3

It may be helpful to secure a packet into position whilst opening it, perhaps by wedging the packet in a drawer.
