Some of these cameras can have switches plugged in so that certain functions such as focussing and taking pictures or zoom can be controlled by a switch/es, the camcorders may have switch selection of functions such as play, delete and record.

The Disabled Photographers' Society provide technical advice or help with modifications, can supply camera supports on loan and have a list of camera accessories. They publish a magazine titled 'In focus'.
If you do not find any appropriate equipment to adapt your camera you could try contacting organisations that may build custom items or modify equipment.
