Insurance is encouraged but not legally required for any powered vehicle in either category, Class 2 for pavement use or Class 3 for pavement and road use.1-6
However, it is recommended that you take out an insurance policy to cover your mobility scooter or buggy against accidental damage, theft and third party liability, in case of damage or injury to someone else or their property.1-6
Prior to entering a hire or loan agreement contract, it is recommended that the six monthly service liability conditions are checked.3
It is advisable to check the obligations under a 'Get You Home' policy. You should check that it includes recovery in a situation where you are unable to continue to drive your scooter or buggy, but the scooter is not damaged in any way.3
