Adjustable height wash basins can be set at any height, as opposed to the more common conventional pedestal basin (which are fixed height).
Some have their height set at the time of installation, others are manually operated or power assisted within a manufacturers range.
See our information on non-standard taps which could be used with these basins
These basins can be adjusted to a range of heights which make them suitable for most seated and standing users, and some provide the option of moving the sink from side to side. They must be fitted with a flexible waste kit and flexible tap connectors. Kits are available that avoid the need for structural re-plumbing.
When choosing the design of the wash basin, consider the space available in the bathroom area and the use of the basin. For example, will it be used mainly to just wash hands? Or is it to wash, shave and apply make-up? If it is the second option, then you may require a larger capacity sink and storage for toiletries etc.

An individual assessment with an occupational therapist may be appropriate, as your safety in your bathroom is very important.
