Angled rails

Image of Angled rails

These rails are either right-angled or angled to another degree, often 135 degrees. They are available in plastic or plastic-coated with a metal core.

Some of these rails are modular and as such, can be assembled in a suitable configuration for the individual.

Help and advice

An angled rail enables the user to support the weight of their arm whilst pulling with his/her hand on the vertical section.

Grab rails are only as strong as the wall to which they are fixed and the fixings that are used. Many modern houses have internal partition walls that are not suitable for the installation of wall fixtures such as grab rails. Ensure that you are using the correct method and type of fixing for the material of the wall. If in doubt consult a qualified and experienced tradesperson.

We recommend that a full assessment is made by a trusted assessor or occupational therapist to assess whether these rails are appropriate for your needs or whether an alternative solution is recommended. For more information read our guides on toilet rails or grab rails in bathrooms. You may also like to read our fact sheet: 'choosing and fitting grab rails'.
