Image of Baths with features for easier entry or exit

This section is subdivided into baths with inward or outward opening doors, adjustable height baths and shallow baths. These features can help to make it easier to access the bath.

Some of the products can be used independently and others are designed primarily for use with carer(s). All of the baths shown are available for domestic use.

Help and advice

Several factors need to be considered before deciding whether or not to change an existing bath. The long term needs of the bather/s must be considered, especially if their ability is likely to change. The needs of other household members should also be considered. For example, will other family members be happy bathing in a bath with a permanent inbuilt seat or complain they can no longer lie back and relax? In some cases a level access shower may be a more suitable option. Click this link to read further considerations on buying a bath.

We strongly recommend that you seek professional advice before making long term decisions about changing your bath or installing a shower. Informed advice is available from community occupational therapists (OT's) who are often based in the Social Services department of your local council.
