Easy to use showers

Image of Easy to use showers

These are shower units, with features to enhance ease of use, which could be used as over bath showers or could be chosen for use as part of a showering package. Some have larger displays to make settings easier to see, others include easy to use dials or pre-set buttons which may aid ease of use if a persons hand and wrist function is reduced. These showers are usually thermostatically controlled.

Help and advice

Consider if this shower will be used by more than one household member and their ability to see and operate the controls independently. The position and height of the shower unit can also affect this.

If you are planning to install one of these units as an overbath shower it is worth considering whether this is the best option in the longer term. It may be that an alternative type of shower or bath is required which may also make it easier for a carer. One of the benefits of fitting an overbath shower is that it can be fitted in a short period and can usually be used in combination with different types of bathing equipment and does not involve a lot of structural changes to a property.

When considering showering equipment an individual assessment with an occupational therapist may be appropriate, your safety in your bathroom is very important. There may be individual factors which determine which showering equipment best suits your needs, the information on this site is not a substitute for individual assessment.
