The long handled products may help people with a limited range of movement in their wrists or hips and could compensate for the lack of reach or lack of strength. For a person with incoordination problems such as tremors, ataxia, or athetoid movements stabilising the arm may help or building up the handles may facilitate people who have a limited grip.

Hand and foot care, includes nail care. People with diabetes, eyesight or co-ordination difficulties need to be especially careful when attending to nails to avoid cutting the skin.
