A range of wheelchair scales are available. Included here are two main types: one where the wheelchair goes onto the stand, and the other type which are weigh beams.
Many of these products are portable and have high weight limits. The ability to measure a person's body mass index (BMI) function is a feature available on several of these scales.
Some of these scales are designed with a chair-style seat. The armrests may adjust to allow a sideways transfer from a chair or wheelchair onto the scale. Controls will be counterbalance beam or electronic; some will show low battery indicator and have remote or touch control. Most have braked castor wheels; some have a footplate or platform.
Other types are portable weigh beams which are usually battery-operated or mains powered.
