These environmental controls work like a remote control, they cannot be operated by adding switches.
Environmental control systems control peripheral devices through either Infra Red or Radio Frequencies. Radio Frequencies can control devices in other rooms of you house that are out of sight. Infra red has to be pointed at a device which is in sight. Infra Red is used to control appliances such as televisions and DVD players. Some environmental controls in this section can use infra red or radio frequencies but many are limited to one or the other.
