Scanning
You can use one large button / switch to operate your environmental control system. Pressing the switch once can cause each of the buttons / images on the control system to be announced, back lit or highlighted for a few seconds in turn. When the button / image you wish to select is highlighted you press the large button again. This is called scanning.
Alternatively you can use two large buttons, one to start the sequence of buttons / images being highlighted and the other to select your chosen button once its highlighted.
