These environmental control systems can be operated by a your voice, some can also be switch operated although the switch may not be included. These models may have a 'scanning function' - pressing the switch once can cause each button or touch screen image to be back lit or highlighted in turn. When the button / image you wish to select is highlighted you press the switch again to select it. A range of swiches are available.
Environmental control systems control peripheral devices through either Infra Red or Radio Frequencies. Radio Frequencies can control devices in other rooms of your home that are out of sight. Infra red has to be pointed at a device which is in sight. Infra Red is used to control appliances such as televisions and DVD players. Many environmental controls in this section can use infra red or radio frequencies but some are limited to one or the other.
