Posture when gardening

This section has products and adaptations which may help you to use alternative postures while gardening including kneeling stools and pads; long handled attachments for tools; raised beds, containers and hanging baskets.

The kneeling stools can be knelt on or turned upside down and used as a stool, they often provide arm supports to assist you standing up again (Government of South Australia, 2009), (Maguire, 2009).

The raised beds, standing containers and hanging baskets may be easier to access from a sitting position.

Add-on handles and gripping aids can be used for other items such as golf, sports and cleaning equipment. Extension handles may assist you to use a long handled tool in an upright or sitting position rather than bending.
