Adaptors and controllers

This section includes adaptors and controllers to enable the use of switches. Some can be used to operate switch enabled toys.

Battery adaptors can turn toys (or any battery driven device) with a small on/off switch into a toy with a remote control switch. They fit into the battery circuit to provide a plug into which a switch can be connected. This enables standard toys to be used by children with limited hand function.

Switch adaptors or modifiers allow you to convert the features of a switch, for example you could make it stay on for a timed period, or choose to have the switch activate with only momentary pressure. Also included are self-adhesive materials for sticking switches to various surfaces.

Adaptors or interfaces that can be used to connect switches to a PC. They can be useful if you are physically or cognitively unable to use a keyboard or pointing device. Some will enable the switches to operate standard mouse functions such as click, right click and double click, others can be configured to operate any mouse or keyboard input.
